Motorised ZIP Screens for a Covered Patio in Rathcoole, Dublin
AD Solutions installed a set of motorised ZIP screens in Rathcoole, Dublin to improve the comfort and usability of this covered patio area. The screens help protect the space from wind, provide additional privacy and reduce glare while maintaining the feel of an outdoor room.
The system was finished in RAL 7016 Anthracite Grey and paired with R700 1% Anthracite screen fabric, creating a coordinated look that suits the existing structure and garden design.
Creating a More Sheltered Patio
Covered patios can still be exposed to wind and changing weather from the open sides. Adding ZIP screens provides a flexible way to close these openings when needed without permanently enclosing the area.
In this Rathcoole project, the screens help create a more protected environment for relaxing, dining and entertaining outdoors, making the patio more practical during a wider range of weather conditions.
RAL 7016 and R700 1% Anthracite
The RAL 7016 Anthracite Grey frame gives the system a modern and understated appearance, while the matching dark R700 1% Anthracite fabric provides strong privacy and solar control.
The low openness factor helps limit direct sunlight and outside visibility while still allowing some natural light into the covered area.
ZIP-Guided Outdoor Screens
The screen fabric is held securely within side channels as it moves up and down. This ZIP-guided design helps keep the fabric stable and creates a cleaner, more tensioned finish than a conventional outdoor roller blind.
It is particularly useful for wider patio openings where a standard unsupported screen may move excessively in breezy conditions.
Motorised Control for Everyday Use
All of the screens are motorised, making it easy to adjust the patio depending on the weather or time of day. The screens can be lowered for greater shelter and privacy or raised when the customer wants the area completely open.
This flexibility is one of the main advantages of motorised ZIP screens for residential outdoor living spaces.
