Skylight & Roof Blinds

Made-to-Measure Skylight Blinds for Dublin, Kildare & Meath

Neat pleated blind systems for conservatories, roof windows and overhead glazing where standard window blinds are not enough.

Skylights bring valuable daylight into a room, but they can also create strong glare and uncomfortable solar gain. We measure and specify blinds to suit the angle, recess and glazing arrangement so the finished system feels integrated rather than improvised.

We install made-to-measure skylight blinds across Dublin, Kildare and Meath, with selected projects elsewhere in Ireland.

Comfort Under Glass

Useful shading without losing the character of the roof

Overhead glazing is different from a normal window. The blind has to sit securely at an angle, operate cleanly and look balanced across the full roof or skylight opening.

Reduce harsh glare

Softens direct light over seating, kitchens and screens while retaining useful daylight.

Improve everyday comfort

A well-selected fabric can make glazed extensions and conservatories feel calmer during bright weather.

Made for sloping glazing

Tensioned and pleated systems can stay controlled against pitched or overhead windows rather than hanging away from the glass.

System Choice

Conservatory roofs, roof windows and individual skylights

There is no single skylight-blind solution for every opening. The best option depends on dimensions, pitch, access, frame layout and how much light control you want.

Conservatory Roofs

Multiple blinds planned as one installation

Where a glazed roof is divided into several bays, the blind layout can be coordinated so the spacing, colour and hardware feel consistent across the whole structure.

Roof Windows

Compact shading for smaller roof openings

Individual roof windows can use neat tensioned blinds that sit within the recess and remain close to the glazing when the blind is closed.

Keeping the gallery smaller makes it easier to compare the actual applications: a full conservatory roof, a single recessed skylight and a pitched roof opening.

Planning the Installation

Fabric, access and the roof shape all matter

For overhead glazing, measuring is about more than width and drop. We look at the roof angle, frame divisions, handles, access for fitting and how the blind will sit when open and closed.

Fabric choice is also important. A lighter translucent fabric can preserve a brighter feel, while a denser option can give stronger glare and privacy control. We can discuss the balance during measuring or at our Clane showroom.

Closed & Integrated

A cleaner look once the blind is fitted

On deeper or more prominent openings, a closed pleated blind can sit neatly within the roof recess and soften the light without overwhelming the ceiling shape.

That is why we look at the opening first, then match the blind style to the recess depth, access and the finish you want once the blind is in everyday use.

Skylight Blinds FAQ

Common questions before ordering

Practical points about roof windows, conservatories and pleated blind systems.

What blinds work best on skylights?

Pleated or tensioned blind systems are commonly used because they can stay controlled against angled glazing. The exact option depends on the skylight frame, recess and dimensions.

Can skylight blinds help with glare?

Yes. The right fabric can soften direct sunlight and reduce glare. The amount of control depends on the fabric and the orientation of the glazing.

Can you fit blinds to a conservatory roof?

Yes, subject to the roof construction and access. Multiple blind sections can be coordinated across the glazing for a consistent finish.

Do skylight blinds have to be blackout?

No. Light-filtering and more opaque fabrics can both be considered. The best choice depends on whether the priority is glare reduction, privacy, stronger dim-out performance or keeping the room bright.
